After some reply on the last contest, we decided to broaden the contest: It is still a writing contest, but the outline is now:
Write a story about a genie, who leaves his lamp/bottle/etc. for the first time after hundereds of years. How does she/he experience the new century/culture she/he's in now?
The deadline for the contest is the 31st of July. All entries must be placed in the contest folder of this group. If you got problems posting your stories there, we will assist you. You can enter only one story into the contest. The word limit is at 3000 words.
The prizes will be EITHER an illustration for your story made by OR a co-founder-status for one year in this group.
Nothing at the moment! Check back soon!
Genie ZodiacHey there!Genie Zodiac by MaxMed-01
I have some some idea about genies' theme.
What about... Genie Zodiac (Classic, Japanese, etc.)?
I offer 2 variants to do this:
1) The image reflects the appearance of its zodiac sign.
2) The image reflects the characteristics (at least the most remarkable characteristic) of its zodiac sign.
But there was a third way: creating unique Zodiac with unique characters, but this idea seemed too complex, so... if you dare, do it this way.
What do YOU think about this idea? And who agrees to make such Zodiac sign set with me?
If you are ready, send me a note.
All additional conditions are discussed right here, in this entry.

Genie: So alone....
A red-headed genie sits on the floor, sporting the usual female Arabian genie outfit colored in orange.
The genie was surrounded by a circular room with nothing but a mat and a table with a healthy rose in a jar.
Genie: (sigh) 500 years later and nothing....Why can someone just let me out already....I'm...I'm tired of being alone...
She collapsed on the floor in boredom, hoping that someone else will release her soon. But more than that, she wants to see how much the world has changed so far.
Suddenly there was a slight vibration that the genie could hear. It kept growing until it became a loud hum.
Genie: (gasp) C..Can it be?
(Outside, in a room)
Sam just bought an odd lamp in an antic store. The lamp had orange swirly design all over . Sam looked over the lamp and started rubbing off dirt and marveled at the design.
Suddenly the lamp vibrated vigorously and Sam dropped it in fear.
Sam: Wha..What the?!..
The cork was pushed out by a s
A World Without WishesShe walked the sun-baked streets, the sun above her still as abrasively bright and hot as she remembered it. The sun, however, was the only thing she still recognized.A World Without Wishes by UberMan5000
The streets of her city, once lined with beautiful palaces, gardens and gates, were now surrounded by square, tan, purpose-built buildings, where there wasn't rubble and remains. Once bustling, the streets here were now deserted, and they were covered in some kind of hard, black substance, like tar. The air was also quite silent, no longer bustling with excited chatter and song, just the hot desert zephyr and an occasional, muffled boom in the distance.
She ran into the occasional other person here and there, mostly tall, white men in strange, baggy clothes just as brown and tan as the dull surroundings. They shouted angrily at her in a language she did not recognize, and when they forcibly tried to take her away, she charmed them into forgetting her, and letting her pass.
The clothes she wore were airy and left little t
Wishful Thinking (Chapter 1)Wishful Thinking (Chapter 1) by MikaAndKuri
Wayne Newton once said “Fate is made up of choice, not chance.” I never bought into fate so much. I never really cared. To me I thought Newton was correct…nothing happens by chance. You make the choice and you determine your destiny. If that’s true though, I’d sometimes have to ask myself if I’ve been making the right choices in life. I never really wanted much out of life. I wanted some quiet though maybe…but that was impossible around my house. Mom was a lawyer who was constantly in and out and working with clients. Dad was a professor of biology at the local college so he sometimes had students in and out to talk with him. I was still just a high school student, getting moderate grades in everything, but my real passion was something mom and dad could never fathom.
Dad always wanted me to pursue something science related or medical! He wanted me to influence and benefit others. He wanted me to go on to medical school or something. Mom wanted
Magic Lamp -5- Wishes and CursesWhile Genie's were not well known for making choices on their own, Genie made hers, and decided to allow Olivia her rest for now. Hard enough to explain to her that she shared a body with a twenty-something, let alone that she was also a Genie's Master. Besides, better was the Master you knew than the Master you did not.Magic Lamp -5- Wishes and Curses by Senor-Refresho
"Yes, of course, Master, you still have three wishes you may use. But, I must add one caveat, no wish you make can bring harm to Olivia, mental or physical."
"Now why the hell is that?"
"Because you and she share a body, she as well as you are my Master, and my wishes can not bring harm to my Master."
"First, your wishes? You don't get wishes, Genie, you grant them to your superiors. Second, putting me in this body isn't considered harming me? I could break my hip and die."
I wish you would, the Genie thought, and then she chastised herself for wishing any ill upon her Master. Outwardly, she grimaced and rubbed her head.
"It is not, Master."
Magic Lamp -3- The True Color of Her MasterGenie made her magic work and a moment later a card appeared in her hand. Simply white with gold lettering and blue accents that swirled like Genie smoke. It was a save the date card and Genie created a whole box of them, declaring the wedding to take place two months hence. She handed these to her Master, who was eager to see just what her Genie had wrought. And it was at this time Genie thought it would be a good time to build a relationship with her Master. It would be easier for her to escape her bondage with the help and support of her Master, or at least, to not being stuck in her lamp. So she said something she hoped would pique Claire's interest; something about her past life free of the lamp. But she also wondered if Claire would even care.Magic Lamp -3- The True Color of Her Master by Senor-Refresho
"I hope, Master, that your wedding is the day of bliss you dreamed of. Would that I have been able to wed, before my imprisonment . . ."
"Your imprisonment?" Claire asked, stunned. "I thought you were born inside the lamp or something. Are
